Dr. Joshua K. Tyson, PT, DPT, CSCS

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Joshua K. Tyson is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Ascend Physical Therapy. Dr. Josh earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Sports in 2022 and went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2025, both from D’Youville University in Buffalo, NY.

Prior to D’Youville, Dr. Josh attended Cairn University in Langhorne, PA, where he completed two years of undergraduate study and made program history as the first male dual-sport athlete, competing in both men’s basketball and men’s soccer. After overcoming multiple injuries throughout his collegiate athletic career, Dr. Josh developed a strong passion for helping individuals navigate the rehabilitation process and return to the activities they love. Through both professional and personal experience, he takes a comprehensive approach to care, emphasizing thorough assessments and individualized treatment programs tailored to each patient’s goals.

Dr. Josh has experience working with athletes across a wide range of skill levels, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball players, as well as endurance athletes. While in physical therapy school, he also worked as a strength and conditioning coach in both corporate and private settings, including operating his own training business. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Josh enjoys playing basketball and soccer, hiking and backpacking, strength training, spending time with family and friends, and building relationships within the Lake Norman community.
